today we're beginning a new series<\/p>\n
focused on the words of Jesus<\/p>\n
and Jesus said<\/p>\n
in the coming weeks we're going to book<\/p>\n
his name with our<\/p>\n
clean up the names<\/p>\n

the value of Life Justice<\/p>\n
um<\/p>\n
and as as we listen to the words of<\/p>\n
Jesus found in the gospel we'll see how<\/p>\n
they speak truly in love and love<\/p>\n
hello<\/p>\n
guide us in our very lives<\/p>\n
that help us to know God<\/p>\n
you understand his his good desires for<\/p>\n
our lives<\/p>\n
lead us to walk forward in advance by<\/p>\n
the Bible is an essential part of<\/p>\n
Christian<\/p>\n
ity<\/p>\n

yeah it reveals who got it<\/p>\n
it imparts wisdom too<\/p>\n
it gives us a framework to better<\/p>\n
understand ourselves and the world<\/p>\n
around us<\/p>\n
Hebrews chapter 4 verse 12 reads for the<\/p>\n
word of God is living and acting sharper<\/p>\n
than any two-edged sword piercing to the<\/p>\n
division of soul<\/p>\n
spirit<\/p>\n
of Joy instead of Maryland and<\/p>\n
concerning the thoughts and intentions<\/p>\n
yes the word of God is Allah<\/p>\n
dividing our hearts and revealing our<\/p>\n
thoughts and our opinions<\/p>\n
and yes sometimes even piercing our soul<\/p>\n
of like the scalpel or the surgery<\/p>\n
but just like a surgeon operates to save<\/p>\n
life God God's work on our hearts<\/p>\n
although at times painful it brings<\/p>\n
healing and restoration<\/p>\n
so as we read the Bible today<\/p>\n
consider these words and teachings of<\/p>\n
Jesus<\/p>\n
how does he speak to the deeper part of<\/p>\n
your soul<\/p>\n
oh<\/p>\n
what part of your life needs the<\/p>\n
restorative work that only God can read<\/p>\n
Lord God we're grateful for your word<\/p>\n
bible<\/p>\n
we're thankful that we can gather here<\/p>\n
today and sing praises to you<\/p>\n
to worship you as a church of people<\/p>\n
brought together by improves<\/p>\n
help us to hear from your word today<\/p>\n
you know the Deep recesses of our hearts<\/p>\n
you know the thoughts and experiences<\/p>\n
that causes English fear despair<\/p>\n
Let Your Truth speak into our lives and<\/p>\n

we pray in your holy name<\/p>\n
today we're going to be reading the<\/p>\n
entire chapter of uh John chapter 14.<\/p>\n
what does Jesus say to us regarding<\/p>\n
reconciliation<\/p>\n
is<\/p>\n
gonna have candy read the entire text to<\/p>\n
us it's a longer Passage<\/p>\n
that English is also on the screen<\/p>\n
this is the word<\/p>\n
this is<\/p>\n
foreign<\/p>\n
come on<\/p>\n
two positions<\/p>\n
poor timing is true relationships<\/p>\n
let us understand<\/p>\n
this is the word of God<\/p>\n
the passage we have just read it details<\/p>\n
a conversation<\/p>\n
that Jesus had with his disciples<\/p>\n
this was following the Last Supper their<\/p>\n
last meal together<\/p>\n
and it was just before the time of<\/p>\n
they've just had one of their own Judas<\/p>\n
Iscariot leave the dinner early on his<\/p>\n
way to betray Jesus<\/p>\n
and Jesus has just told Peter that a<\/p>\n
time is coming soon<\/p>\n
when Peter will actually deny even<\/p>\n
knowing Jesus<\/p>\n
the disciples are they're in the midst<\/p>\n
of Chaos<\/p>\n
at the end of this time of confusion and<\/p>\n
fear Jesus speaks these words<\/p>\n
let not your hearts be trouble<\/p>\n
yeah<\/p>\n
the words that Jesus is speaking here<\/p>\n
are words of peace<\/p>\n
he's calling his disciples to look to<\/p>\n
God to look to him in the midst of this<\/p>\n
turmoil<\/p>\n
a<\/p>\n
you know their entire world is coming<\/p>\n
undone hello um<\/p>\n
and Jesus is Calling them to look there<\/p>\n
and to find the peace that he brings<\/p>\n
nothing happens<\/p>\n
begins to teach them he starts talking<\/p>\n
about the kingdom<\/p>\n
So it's talking about heaven<\/p>\n
my father's house there are many rooms<\/p>\n
would I have told you that I go to<\/p>\n
prepare a place for you hello<\/p>\n
let me see Thomas's question Lord we<\/p>\n
don't know where you're going how come<\/p>\n
you know the way<\/p>\n
Lord show us the father it's enough for<\/p>\n
how is it that you will manifest<\/p>\n
yourself destined and not for the world<\/p>\n
it has passage we're given a glimpse<\/p>\n
into a very infinite conversation<\/p>\n
between Jesus<\/p>\n
he's been telling them about his<\/p>\n
impending death and their lives<\/p>\n
are shaken<\/p>\n
no one comes to the father except<\/p>\n

I wanted us to read this whole this<\/p>\n
whole message so you have an idea of<\/p>\n
what was happening<\/p>\n
there's a lot here a lot of meaning a<\/p>\n
lot of things we can talk about me like<\/p>\n
in my mind<\/p>\n
but tonight we're going to focus<\/p>\n
on reconciliation<\/p>\n
and the peace that Jesus is and brings<\/p>\n
one of the core teachings of the Bible<\/p>\n
is that God created<\/p>\n
he made them good<\/p>\n
but in the midst of that goodness in the<\/p>\n
in Adam and Eve sinned and and<\/p>\n
Brokenness entered the world sin entered<\/p>\n
the world<\/p>\n
turmoil pain suffering death<\/p>\n
entered the world<\/p>\n
in the Bible it teaches that we<\/p>\n
each of us we are born into this reality<\/p>\n
the evil um that exists in our own<\/p>\n
sinful actions lead to our own deaths<\/p>\n
we cause destruction in our own lives<\/p>\n
and in the lives of others around us<\/p>\n
we don't need to look far<\/p>\n
to see the effects of sin in our lives<\/p>\n
and in the world around us<\/p>\n
the world's in a state of constant<\/p>\n
terminal<\/p>\n
nations rise up against nations in war<\/p>\n
M<\/p>\n
and friendships suffer and end even<\/p>\n
families are divided and those that once<\/p>\n
you know loved and nurtured each other<\/p>\n
now they just completely ignore one<\/p>\n
another it's like they've been deleted<\/p>\n
out of one another's lives foreign<\/p>\n
it cries out<\/p>\n
for justice it cries out for peace<\/p>\n
we love to have things restored<\/p>\n
belong for them to return to the way<\/p>\n
that they were<\/p>\n
we need rescue from the effects of our<\/p>\n
broken world we feel it<\/p>\n
Saint Augustine<\/p>\n
Pippa one of the church forefathers in<\/p>\n
his book confessions said this<\/p>\n
thou has made us for thyself<\/p>\n
and our heart is restless until it finds<\/p>\n
rest<\/p>\n
Jesus leads us to peace with God<\/p>\n
Jesus leads us in reconciliation with<\/p>\n
God<\/p>\n
the central message of the Christian<\/p>\n
faith we are sinful<\/p>\n
tree must be reconciled<\/p>\n
okay<\/p>\n
to reconcile means uh to return to a<\/p>\n
state of of wholeness a place of<\/p>\n
fullness of restoration<\/p>\n
our relationship with God it's been<\/p>\n
severed because of our sinfulness<\/p>\n
as we're saying today a few songs about<\/p>\n
God's holiness God is Holy and our<\/p>\n
sinful actions drive us away from God<\/p>\n
and his good will for us<\/p>\n
that's the predicament<\/p>\n
okay that is the<\/p>\n
reality of the fall<\/p>\n
en again<\/p>\n
our sin separates us<\/p>\n
here in this passage<\/p>\n
Jesus Christ extends hope he extends<\/p>\n
hope for our broken Souls<\/p>\n
reveals himself as the way to<\/p>\n
reconciliation God<\/p>\n
the reason that the gospel<\/p>\n
is Christ is good news is because he<\/p>\n
gave himself for us<\/p>\n
Jesus took our sin upon himself he died<\/p>\n
for us<\/p>\n
foreign foreign<\/p>\n
to<\/p>\n
be at peace<\/p>\n
and we're Restless we're Restless until<\/p>\n
we find true peace that true peace<\/p>\n
that Jesus the prince of peace<\/p>\n
so how do we I mean ask yourself how do<\/p>\n
I<\/p>\n
mitigate the harsh realities of this<\/p>\n
world in which I live<\/p>\n
what hope do I have what am I hoping in<\/p>\n
where do I look for Solace for peace<\/p>\n
Central to Christian doctrine is that<\/p>\n
true full and Lasting peace is to be<\/p>\n
found in the person and work of the Lord<\/p>\n
Jesus Christ Alone<\/p>\n
if we could be honest with one another<\/p>\n
and I hope that we continue to cultivate<\/p>\n
a community here a great city of of<\/p>\n
being open with one another about our<\/p>\n
struggles and temptations and sins<\/p>\n
hey<\/p>\n
so if we could be honest with one<\/p>\n
another how would we answer that<\/p>\n
question where is my hope foreign<\/p>\n
do I experience<\/p>\n
the Peace of Jesus in my life<\/p>\n
shares many wonderful truths in this<\/p>\n
particular interaction with his<\/p>\n
disciples<\/p>\n
but see how he understands Their Fear at<\/p>\n
this moment<\/p>\n
he understands that they're afraid<\/p>\n
knows your heart<\/p>\n
he knows your fears<\/p>\n
he knows what has been<\/p>\n
you know on your own heart and this week<\/p>\n
and is keeping you up at night or or<\/p>\n
waking you up in the middle<\/p>\n
and Jesus said these things I have<\/p>\n
spoken to you while I'm still here with<\/p>\n
you but the helper the Holy Spirit whom<\/p>\n
the father will sin in my name he will<\/p>\n
teach you all things and and bring to<\/p>\n
your remembrance all that I have said to<\/p>\n
you<\/p>\n
peace<\/p>\n
I leave with you my peace I give to you<\/p>\n
not as the world is<\/p>\n
do I give to you<\/p>\n
let not your hearts be troubled either<\/p>\n
let them<\/p>\n
wow yeah<\/p>\n
be a p<\/p>\n
be still<\/p>\n
be still and know that God<\/p>\n
who's the God has brought through the<\/p>\n
Life Death resurrection of Jesus Christ<\/p>\n
is present with us<\/p>\n
through the present care of the Holy<\/p>\n
Spirit<\/p>\n
do you see this<\/p>\n
you see Jesus comforting his disciples<\/p>\n
believe he says believe in God<\/p>\n
don't want Dynamics out I am the way to<\/p>\n
peace in God<\/p>\n
and God will be present with you as you<\/p>\n
look to him<\/p>\n
this is the Hope<\/p>\n
presented in the<\/p>\n
middle<\/p>\n
this is the peace that is offered to us<\/p>\n
it's not a piece offered by this word<\/p>\n
there's a distinction there's a<\/p>\n
difference<\/p>\n
peace given through Christ is peace with<\/p>\n
kids it's a piece for now and a peace<\/p>\n
for eternity forever<\/p>\n
true peace it's a full peace foreign<\/p>\n
and that's the hardship and the trial of<\/p>\n
living in a broken sinful world<\/p>\n
we all experience suffering and hardship<\/p>\n
and you know our days may not be<\/p>\n
peaceful<\/p>\n
foreign but through Jesus<\/p>\n
they can be full<\/p>\n
of Peace<\/p>\n
full of his peace and his presence and<\/p>\n
his Mercy his grace is<\/p>\n
a line somewhere online that said<\/p>\n
why are there so many new self-help<\/p>\n
books released every year<\/p>\n
and the quote said haven't the old ones<\/p>\n
worked yeah<\/p>\n
and it's and it's it's funny but it's<\/p>\n
also really<\/p>\n
yeah it points to Humanity's<\/p>\n
but the Christian faith claims is that<\/p>\n
you can't have peace with God<\/p>\n
unless we are reconciled to God<\/p>\n
and Jesus In this passage says he is the<\/p>\n
way is the truth<\/p>\n
he is the life<\/p>\n
he bore the weight of our sin he he took<\/p>\n
the punishment for our sin<\/p>\n
give us<\/p>\n
happiness and a peace apart from himself<\/p>\n
because it is not there there is no such<\/p>\n
thing<\/p>\n
in second Corinthians chapter five I'm<\/p>\n
going to read this to us because<\/p>\n
this speaks of reconciliation this is uh<\/p>\n
Paul being inspired by what Jesus has<\/p>\n
said<\/p>\n
about him being the way truth in the<\/p>\n
Life he's talking about right being<\/p>\n
reconciled to God let me read this to us<\/p>\n
therefore if anyone is in Christ he is a<\/p>\n
new creation<\/p>\n
the oldest passed away behold the new<\/p>\n
has come<\/p>\n
all of this is from God<\/p>\n
who through Christ reconciled us to<\/p>\n
himself<\/p>\n
and gave us the ministry of<\/p>\n
reconciliation that is<\/p>\n
in Christ God was reconciling the world<\/p>\n
to himself<\/p>\n
not counting their trespasses against<\/p>\n
them<\/p>\n
and entrusting to us the message of<\/p>\n
therefore we are ambassadors<\/p>\n
for Christ<\/p>\n
god making his appeal through us<\/p>\n
we and for you<\/p>\n
on behalf of Christ be reconciled to God<\/p>\n
for our sake he made him<\/p>\n
to be sin who knew no sin so that in him<\/p>\n
we might become righteousness of God<\/p>\n
names<\/p>\n
be reminded that he he gave himself for<\/p>\n
you and walked forward knowing that he<\/p>\n
leads you the most<\/p>\n
God has given you the ministry of<\/p>\n
reconciliation you know he is going to<\/p>\n
build into you in increasing amounts a<\/p>\n
love of peace and he'll help you be the<\/p>\n
one that works to build peace foreign<\/p>\n
in restoring broken relationships and<\/p>\n
encouraging others foreign<\/p>\n
to as Paul writes you know towards<\/p>\n
for those of you who would<\/p>\n
would say you know I'm not a Christian<\/p>\n
and perhaps you're not sure what you<\/p>\n
think about about this passage or the<\/p>\n
other claims of the Christian<\/p>\n
and we hope that this is a safe place<\/p>\n
for you to ask your question<\/p>\n
or your doubts<\/p>\n
and to you today I would encourage you<\/p>\n
to reflect on what you've heard to<\/p>\n
reflect on this part of the Bible<\/p>\n
and to even ask yourself<\/p>\n
could Jesus be the peace that I see<\/p>\n
is there more to him than I know and<\/p>\n
believe<\/p>\n
me<\/p>\n
and if what Jesus says about himself<\/p>\n
is true<\/p>\n
what does that mean for my life<\/p>\n
and I would say any one of the leaders<\/p>\n
here<\/p>\n

believers in the church<\/p>\n
