Today, uh we have the service

in English. I can't do that in English.

So, welcome to Grace City once again.

And um

we're going to use tonight

to reflect

on Jesus experience

of our broken world.

on the first Good Friday

and then we will um use that as a way to

kind of reflect upon what he's done for

us

and the service will end

kind of like seems like it's not a

proper ending and there's a reason for

that because we want to to

um to complete the service on Sunday.

Okay. So let me first of all pray for

us. Let's pray together.

Lord Jesus, we come tonight

to

reflect upon

what you have done on the first Good

Friday.

Would you send your spirit tonight

to warm our hearts

as we contemplate

the things that you have done?

Help us to really um to really

feel the weight

of this broken world tonight

and how you have come

so that you can remedy this brokenness.

be with us tonight, oh Lord God.

Especially as we as the word is read, as

a song is sung, as we listen to the

reflection as well.

In Jesus name we pray. Amen.

Amen.

The first song we're going to sing,

we're going to actually sing it a few of

the verses through our time together

this evening. So we'll sing this first

verse now,

but we'll sing it twice through. So we

have some time to reflect on the words,

but this takes us through some

vignettes, some different parts of um of

those last few days and hours of Jesus's

life before the crucifixion

uh go to dark. So we enter into this

time, Good Friday, of remembering his

sacrifice on the cross. And we'll begin

in the garden. So we'll sing this first

verse twice.

>> Go to dark

at Sam.

Ye that feel

the temptor's power

your redeemer's

conflict

see

>> watch with him

one bit hour

Turn not from his grief away.

>> Learn from Jesus

Christ to pray.

>> Sing that again.

Go to dark.

>> Ye that shield

the tempter's power.

Your redeemer's

one bit out.

>> Turn not from his creeps away.

Learn from Jesus

Matthew 27:es 1 to10. When morning came,

all the chief priests and the elders of

the people took counsel against Jesus to

put him to death. And they bound him and

led him away and delivered him over to

Pilate the governor.

Then when Judas, his betrayer, saw Jesus

was condemned, he changed his mind and

brought back the 30 pieces of silver to

the chief priests and the elders,

saying, I have sinned by betraying

innocent blood. They said, "What is that

to us? See to it yourself." And throwing

down the pieces of silver into the

temple, he departed, and he went and

hanged himself.

But the chief priests taking the pieces

of silver said, "It is not lawful to put

them into the treasury since it is blood

money." So they took counsel and bought

with them the potter's field as a burial

place for strangers.

Therefore, that field has been called

the field of blood to this day. Then was

fulfilled what had been spoken by the

prophet Jeremiah, saying, "And they took

the 30 pieces of silver, the price of

him on whom a price had been set by some

of the sons of Israel, and they gave

them for the potter's field, as the Lord

directed them.

Our

world is broken.

Betrayal

destroys trust.

Here are some statistics

about marriage betrayal.

The question is how common is betrayal

in marriage?

20 to 25% of marriage marriages

experience infidelity

in some at some point.

In any given year about 2 to 4% of

married people are actively cheating.

Broader definition suggests rates can

rise up to 40% of men and 35% of women.

35% uh 20 to 25% of men and 10 to 15% of

women admit to cheating.

Betrayal is not just common. It is also

the most destructive forces

in marriage.

About 10 to 50%

of divorces are linked to cheating.

For many, betrayal

equal to sex outside of marriage.

But emotional betrayal is just as

devastating.

Emotional affairs are extremely common.

92% of women and the 79% of men report

some form of emotional involvement

outside of marriage.

Betrayal is a global human issue.

Up to 50% of people may cheat at least

once.

Thailand is among countries with highest

infidelity rates.

Our world is broken and Jesus

experienced this brokenness of betrayal.

Let's continue singing. We'll sing this

second verse twice as well.

Follow to

the judgement

hall. Feel

the Lord

of life arrange.

Oh the world

and the call.

>> Oh the pain

is so sustained.

Not suffering, shame or loss.

>> Learn from him to bear the cross.

Follow to the judgement

hall.

>> You the Lord

of life rain.

>> Oh the word

and the god.

For the pain

is soul sustain.

>> Shut not suffering shame or loss.

for

forractice.

Foreign

world is broken,

delayed. Justice is still injustice.

UN expert deplore justice unfulfilled 22

years after Sai Nila Pit's disappearance

and raise reprisals concerns.

They deplored uh they deplored to

continue failure to declare uh to clear

clarify the faith and whereabouts of the

Thai human right lawyers

22 years after his enforced

disappearance.

Enforced disappearance is a continued

crime and an ongoing violation of

victim's human rights. The expert warned

the offense begins with the

disappearance and persists for as long

as the perpetrator continues to to

conceal the victim's faith and

whereabouts.

So China was forcibly disappeared in

Bangkok on March 12th, 2004.

His enforced disappearance is believed

to be linked to his legal representation

of individuals

al um uh alleging torture and ill

treatment in Thailand's southern border

provinces.

His fate and whereabouts remain unknown

and no one has been held accountable to

date.

As a party to the international

convention of protection of all persons

from enforced disappearance, Thailand is

obliged to conduct prompt, thorough,

indep independent and impartial

investigation to the guar uh to

guarantee the rights of disappeared

person and their families to truth,

justice, and reparations. The expert

says these rights do not cease with the

passage of time. They said on the on

contrary prolong inaction entrenches

impunity

undermine confidence in the rule of law

and hinders um um prevention.

Our world is broken.

Jesus experienced this brokenness.

of injustice.

What wondous love is this, oh my soul,

oh my soul,

what wondrous love is this, oh my soul,

>> what wondous love is this that caused

the Lord of bliss to bear the dreadful

curse for my soul. For my soul

to bear the dreadful curse for my soul.

>> When I was sinking down, sinking down,

sinking down.

When I was sinking down, sinking down.

When I was sinking down beneath

God's righteous round, Christ laid aside

his crown for my soul. For my soul.

Christ laid aside his crown for my soul.

To God and to the Lamb I will sing. I

will sing.

To God and to the Lamb I will sing.

>> To God and to the Lamb who is the great

I am. While millions join the theme, I

will sing. I will sing.

>> While millions join the theme, I will

sing.

>> And when from death I'm free, I'll sing

on. I'll sing on.

And when from death I'm free, I'll sing.

>> And when from death I'm free, I'll sing.

And joyful be. And through eternity

I'll sing on. I'll sing on.

And through eternity

I'll sing on.

The next passage is from Matthew 27

verse 27-44.

Then the soldiers of the governor took

Jesus into the governor's headquarters,

and they gathered the whole battalion

before him.

And they stripped him and put a scarlet

robe on him. And twisting together a

crown of thorns, they put it on his head

and put a reed in his right hand. And

kneeling before him, they mocked him,

saying, "Hail, King of the Jews." And

they spit on him and took the reeds and

struck him on the head. And when they

had mocked him, they stripped him of the

rope and put his own clothes on him and

led him away to crucify him.

As they went out, they found a man of

Sirene, Simon by name. They compelled

this man to carry his cross.

And when they came to a place called

Golova, which means place of a skull,

they offered him wine to drink mixed

with g. But when he tasted it, he would

not drink it.

And when they had crucified him, they

divided his garments among them by

casting lots.

Then they sat down and kept watch over

him there. And over his head they put

the charge against him which read, "This

is Jesus, the King of the Jews."

Then two robbers were crucified with

him, one on the right and one on the

left. And those who passed by derided

him, wagging their heads and saying,

"You who will destroy the temple and

rebuild it in three days. Save yourself.

If you are the son of God, come down

from the cross.

So also the chief priests with the

scribes and elders mocked him, saying,

"He saved others. He cannot save

himself. He is the king of Israel. Let

him come down now from the cross, and we

will believe in him.

He trusts in God. Let God deliver him

now if he desires him. For he said, "I

am the son of God."

And the robbers who were crucified with

him also reviled him in the same way.

Society dares to mock the creator God.

The idea that so secular society is

mocking God is often observed in broader

cultural trends, especially in media,

public discourse and u popular attitudes

that reflect a growing pattern of

ridicules, dismissal and rejection of

God and Christian belief

in many films, television shows and

comedic perform platforms.

God, Christianity and sacred practices

are frequently portrayed in a negative

or trivialized light.

Christians are sometimes depict

ignorant,

hypocritical, and out of touch with

reality. and religious practices such as

prayer or worship are used as material

for humor.

In societ in social media, mockery of

religious belief has been normalized.

Memes, short videos, and viral posts

often make light of prayers,

u miracles, and biblical teachings.

Christian morality is increasingly

reframed and as harmful or regressive.

Teachings on topics such as sexuality,

truth, exclusivity

are often portrayed not just as dated

but as morally wrong and dangerous.

The tone can often shift from

disagreement to scorn where biblical

convictions are not just rejected but

openly criticized and mocked.

In intellectual and academic sphere,

faith is sometimes dismissed as

irrational, impunitive

and uh primitive, sorry, primitive and

merely psychological.

Influential voice may describe belief in

God as a form of delusion and cope and a

coping mechanism for the weak.

This kind of dismissal still reflect a

posture of scorn,

reducing faith to something unworthy of

serious consideration.

We must recognize that there are

different levels of cultural response to

God.

Some people are indifferent, treating

God as irrelevant to their lives.

Others actively reject God,

seeing religious belief as false or

harmful.

Still others openly mocks God, treating

him and faith as objects of ridicule.

In a context like Bangkok, this dynamic

may appear differently than in the

western cultures. Overt mocking may be

less common, but subtle dismissal,

pluralism or the marginaliz

marginalization of exclusive truth

claims can function in similar way.

experienced this brokenness of mocking

the son of God.

How deep the Father's love for us.

How vast beyond all measure

that he should give his only son

>> to make a wretched treure.

>> How great the pain of sering loss.

>> The father turns his face away.

As wounds which mar the chosen one

bring many sons to glory.

>> Behold the man upon the cross.

My sin upon his shoulders.

Ashamed I hear my mocking voice

call out among the scoffers.

It was my sin that held him there

>> until it was accomplished.

His dying breath has brought me life.

I know that it is fair.

>> I will not boast in,

>> no gifts, no power, no wisdom.

>> But I will boast in Jesus Christ.

his death and resurrection.

>> Why should I gain from his reward?

>> I can not give an answer.

>> But this I know with all my heart.

His words have paid my

Suffering is experienced by every human

being from birth to death.

In Buddhism, the Buddha teaches that

suffering is a fundamental part of the

human ex exist existence.

This idea is captured in the concept of

which includes not only obvious pain and

hardship but also deeper form of

dissatisfaction,

impermanence and a sense of life never

fully satisfied our desire.

For the Buddha one, life involve

sufferings

in birth, aging, sickness, death, loss,

and unmet desires.

Two, suffering comes from craving. Our

desire for pleasure, control, identity,

and permanence. Three, suffering is can

end by letting go of craving and desire.

And four, suffering can be overcome

through self discipline, living and

insight.

Both Buddhism and Christianity sees that

something is deeply wrong with humanity.

Buddha Buddhism calls this to

while the Bible describes this

brokenness as sin. Both agrees that root

problem lies within us. Buddhism sees

craving as the source of suffering while

Christianity

def um identifies sin, the turning away

from God as the root cause. Both

recognize that true relief requires more

than external um external change. It

requires a deeper transformation.

Buddhism seeks to end suffering by

extinguishing desire.

While Christianity seeks to redeem

suffering through restored relationship

with God and transform desire through

the work of another.

But I can Do

something

I

saw.

broad

more

single.

Do

and

mountain.

So

God

should not

grow your

child like

So the next reading will be from Matthew

chapter 27 55-6.

There were also many women there looking

on from distance who have followed Jesus

from Galilee ministering to him. Among

whom were Mary Magdalene and Mary the

mother of James and Joseph and the

mother of the sons of Zebedee. When it

was evening

there came a rich man from Martha named

Joseph who also was a disciple of Jesus.

He went to Pilate and asked for the body

of Jesus. Then Pilate ordered it to be

given to him. And Joseph took the body

and wrapped it in a clean linen shroud

and laid it in his own new tomb

which had a which had cut in the rock.

And he rolled a great stone to the

entrance of the tomb and went away. Mary

Magdalene and the other Mary were there

sitting opposite the tomb. The next day

that is after the day of preparation the

chief priests and the Pharisees gathered

before Pilate and said sir we remember

how that impostor said while he was

still alive after three days I will

rise. therefore ordered the tomb to be

made secure until the third day. Thus

his disciple go and steal his him away

and tell the people he has risen from

the dead.

And the last fraud the last fraud will

be worse than the first. Pilate said to

them, "You have a guard of soldiers. Go

make it as secure as you can." So they

went and made the tomb secure by sealing

the stone and sitting a guard.

Continue singing. We'll sing this last

verse of Go to Dark Gethsemane twice as

well.

Calvar's mournful

mountain

climb

>> their adoring

>> at his feet.

Mark the miracle

of time.

>> God's own son.

Sacrifice complete.

It is finished. Hear him cry.

Christ to die

>> for mountain

climb.

their adore

at his feet.

>> Mark the miracle

God's own sonice

complete

>> in his finished

cry.

Christ.

Were you there when they crucified

My Lord,

>> were you there when they crucified

my Lord?

>> Sometimes

it causes me to tremble.

>> Were you there when they crucified my

Lord?

Were you there when they nailed him to

the tree?

>> Were you there when they nailed him to

>> Were you there when they laid him in the

tomb?

Sometimes

Don't

rock

and child.

man.

Brown

up high.

around.

>> There in the ground

his body laid,

>> light of the world by darkness

slay.

I take this time to

end the service by reading together

um

the Haidber catechism

to remind us that perhaps what we feel

about the experience of the world today

is not the end.

Okay? because we have Christ who

suffered death on our behalf. Okay. So,

I'm going to read the question and

please um why don't we stand together

and read this together. Okay.

Why was it necessary

for Christ to suffer death?

Because the justice and truth of God

requires that satisfaction for our sin

could be made in no other way than by

the death of the son of God. Let's pray

together.

Lord Jesus, we come before you today to

recognize

that you being the very nature of God

did not conceal yourself

um God. But you have become man and have

experienced suffering the way that this

world is suffering. Lord God,

Lord God, we come before you today to

give you thanks to be uh to celebrate

another Good Friday because we receive

the good from your suffering, oh Lord.

Lord, so would you remind us as we

uh go our separate ways today

of the wonderful grace that you have

shown to us to that very first Good

Friday that you have come to die on the

cross so that we may be set free from

death from um from sin and death and

suffering.

Lord, would you bring us back on Sunday

also so that we can celebrate the

victory of the risen Christ together? In

Jesus name we pray. Amen.

One.

","":"
["GET
