for those who weren't here last week

my name is Jake Thomas I'm one of the

pastors here my wife Courtney and I

Courtney's in the back with our daughter

Olivia we recently returned from the

states where we welcomed Olivia in

February so we're getting settled back

in excited to be

here and you get me for a second

straight week so we'll see how that goes

last week we

started a series our series on the Book

of Esther and today I'm going to be

preaching in English so I'll give a

moment for anyone who needs TI

transation to get one of the devices

that are found in the

back okay seems like we're ready to go

so like I said this is our second week

of our series on Esther and last week we

looked at chapter one where we saw and

we met King hashas also known as Xerxes

you probably heard of him called heard

him called Xerxes a lot more than a

hashas through 187 day party for himself

where he became incredibly drunk and

summoned his Queen to show off her

beauty and when she refused to come he

banished her and at the end of the

chapter he was queenless so it may be

difficult to believe but God's Sovereign

hand governed those events and we will

continue to see God and his sovereignty

rule through the events of chapter 2 as

well we're going to hear about some dark

evil things that happen in Chapter 2 but

the Lord is in control and the Lord is

on his throne so about four years have

passed as we begin chapter 2 The Book of

Esther doesn't give a lot of details

about what has happened in the interim

but uh other in historians inform us

that this is the time that Xerxes took

the largest army that had ever been

formed at that time and attacked the

Greeks he wanted to conquer Greece and

that war campaign did not go well he was

defeated and he has come back to his

castle in or his Palace in uh Souza and

he's

brooding and his he's thinking about you

know he he's he's uh he's thinking about

what the events that led to vashti's

banishment you'll notice that he is

completely ignoring his role in Vash

banishment and thinking about the what

his advisers told him to do uh and not

his his role in it at all um and his

advisers want to cheer them up so what

they decide that they need to do is

they're going to throw huge beauty

contest to decide who the next Queen is

going to be and so and that's the kind

of where we are right now with that

let's turn to the text if you have your

Bibles open them to Esther chapter 2

we're going to go be working through

verses 1 through 18 today and it will be

on the screen if you uh don't have it so

uh after these things when the anger of

King aaras had Abad he remembered vashti

and what she had done and what had been

decreed against her then the king's

young men who attended him said let

beautiful young virgins be sought for

the king and let the king appoint

officers in all the provinces of his

kingdom to gather all the beautiful

young virgins to the herum in in Suza

The Citadel under custody of hegi the

king's unic who is in charge of the

women L their Cosmetics be given them

and let the young woman who pleases the

king be Queen instead of vashi this

pleased the king and he did so now there

was a Jew in Souza The Citadel whose

name was Mori the son of jier son of

shim son of Kish a benjaminite who had

been carried away from the from

Jerusalem among the captives carried

away with Janiah king of Judah whom NE

Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon had

carried away he was bringing up hadassa

that is Esther the daughter of his uncle

she had neither father nor mother the

young woman had a beautiful figure and

was lovely to look at and when her

father and her mother died morai took

her as his own

daughter so when the king's order and

his edict were proclaimed and when many

young women were gathered in Souza The

Citadel in custody of Hagi Esther also

was taken into the king's Palace and put

in the custody of Hagi who was who had

charge of the women and the young woman

pleased him and won his favor and he

quickly provided her with her cosmetics

and her portion of food and with seven

chosen young women from the king's

Palace and advanced her and her young

women to the best place in the Herm

Esther had not been had not made known

her people or Kindred for morai had

commanded her not to make it known and

every day morai walked in front of the

court of the herum to learn how Esther

was and what was happening to

her now when the when the turn came for

each young woman to go into king hashas

after being 12 months under the

regulations for the women

since this was the regular period of

their beautifying six months with oil of

myrrh and six months with spices and

ointments for women when the young woman

went into the king in this way she was

given whatever she desired to take with

her from the Harum to the king's Palace

in the evening she would go in and in

the morning she would return to the

second herum in custody of shash Gaz the

king's unic who was in charge of the

concubines she would not go into the

King again unless the king delighted in

her and she was summoned by name

when the turn came for Esther the

daughter of abiel the uncle of Mori who

had taken her as his own daughter to go

into the king she asked for nothing

except what Hagi the king's unic who had

charge of the women advised Now esther

was winning favor in the eyes of all who

saw her and when Esther was taken to

King hashas into his Royal Palace in the

10th month which is the month of tbth in

the seventh year of his Reign the king

loved Esther more than all the women and

she won grace and favor in his sight

more than all the virgins so that that

he set the Royal crown on her head and

made her Queen instead of vashy then the

king gave a great feast for all his

officials and servants it was Esther's

Feast he was also he also granted a

remission of taxes to the provinces and

gave gifts with royal

generosity often we'll think of Esther

2 as biblical equivalent equivalent of a

romantic drama or fairy tale think of

Esther as Cinderella a fairy tale a

young Outcast girl meets and finds her

prince

charming the king is looking for a new

Queen so all the eligible women in the

provinces in the Empire are lining up in

front of him to be chosen as the next

Queen Esther a beautiful but margin

marginalized girl also gets included in

the contest she's the

underdog but she

she's impressing everyone that she meets

and she wins the

contest as she spends more time with the

king the king will begin to see her

kindness and her piety and the King will

be positively affected by her they'll

live happily every happily every after

the end that's it right that's what we

like to think is happening in this

chapter that's a pretty picture that we

like to paint over the reality of what's

Happening Here uh and it's a pretty

irresponsible reading of chapter 2 of

Esther I listened to a really helpful

sermon by man named David strain on this

this chapter he titled a sermon Beauty

and the

Beast Esther is not a fairy tale and

David strain puts it this way Esther

chapter 2 far from overflowing with

romance is full of moral ambigu

ambiguity and spiritual

compromise Esther 2 instead of offering

us an example to follow invites us to

face the reality of life in which women

are objectified and made victims where

men can be predatory and where at least

for some fear is often more powerful

than faith

Esther chapter 2 is not an exciting

episode of Persia's Got Talent it is a

rather dark and uncomfortable tale of

abduction even abuse and yet it is here

amidst all the moral ambiguities and

shocking abuses that dog Esther steps

that we're being invited to trace the

footprints of The Sovereign God who is

working in through and despite the sin

and suffering we find

here for the good of those who love him

and who have been called ACC according

to his purpose the Lord is in

control like chapter one this passage is

about how the Lord's Providence is woven

discreetly into

events God will use the beauty suffering

and compromise of Esther to accomplish

his will and save his

people so let's talk about the realities

of the situation a little bit especially

as we try to understand uh Esther Esther

and mori's actions later in the chapter

xerx advisers gather all the beautiful

young virgins from around the Empire

commentators believe that they gathered

upwards of a thousand young women and

brought them to

Souza these women don't have a choice in

the matter they're not volunteers they

didn't apply to be a part of this

competition verse eight tells us that

Esther was taken she doesn't have agency

she didn't volunteer she's taken

forcibly from her family and put into

this

competition the taken to their beauty

due to their beauty their outward Beauty

their youth um and their virginity and

they're never going to return to their

families because that's another

important thing we have to understand

about what's Happening Here each one is

poked and prodded and beautified over a

year for one night with the King and for

most of them that's all they're ever

going to get most of these young women

are going to spend one night with King

Xerxes they're going to go into uh a

different part of the palace and they're

going to live out their days unwed and

childless as a concubine of the king and

never never spend another night with him

they're going to be completely forgotten

by

him remember the reality of this of this

situation as we discuss how Esther

responds uh we're introduced to Esther

and Mori the first Israelites Jews that

are mentioned in the entire Book of

Esther in in verse

5 they the author really wants us to

know that they're Exiles they've been

Exiles for 4 Generations so uh verse six

reads something like this in the

original text says who uh that being

Kish mori's great-grandfather had been

exiled away from Jerusalem among the

Exiles exiled with Janiah king of Judah

who Nebuchadnezzar King of Babylon had

exiled we get it they're Exiles they are

not living in their home they've been

taken away from that and they're living

among their

captors uh we should note that they're

doing a really good job of assimilating

into culture now that's something that

Jeremiah actually instructed the Exiles

to do in Jeremiah

29 he told the Exiles to to build lives

build homes have children uh pray for

the city that they're living in even

though it's not Jerusalem and that God

would restore them to Jerusalem after 70

years well 70 years has come and passed

and many Jews have returned to Jerusalem

but for some reason morai and eser have

stayed in Souza among their captors um

you can tell by their names that they

have really latched on to Persian

culture mori's name means man of Marduk

which Marduk was the chief god of the

Babylonians and

Persians um and then we find out about

Esther Esther is an orphan she doesn't

have a father and mother but she's being

raised by her cousin morai who's taken

her into his home and and loves her like

his own

daughter Esther is introduced with two

names we we first learned that her name

is her Jewish name name is hadassa which

means Myrtle it's not super important

important but she also has a second a

Persian name Esther which comes from the

Persian Babylonian goddess of love istar

and so she is as in our introduction to

Esther we we learn that she is battling

living in two different worlds at the

same time she wants to hold strong to

her Jewish Heritage that traces all the

way back to

Moses she is struggling with that amid

her living her entire life among people

that she

doesn't that don't hold her same beliefs

and

convictions the use of both of her names

shows us that she's struggling with us

she's struggling with this decision but

the great thing about it is that God is

going to use her even though she's

Waring Between Two Worlds U Esther is

beautiful we uh we learned in our

introduction that she's someone whose

physical appearance is is beautiful

she's she's uh lovely to look at and so

obviously she's going to be taken into

this competition to become the next

Queen due to her beauty she's brought

into the competition and and we're going

to see that God is going to use that to

deliver his

people uh so let's talk about a little

bit what's going on in this competition

um so after these women are taken from

their

families because of their beauty they

aren't yet beautiful enough to be preved

presented to the king they have to go

through a year-long process of of

beautification

that prepares them to be presented to

the

king he wants their skin to look just

right he wants their he wants them to

smell just how he likes he wants them to

be adorned the way that he wants he

wants their beauty to meet his

standards this isn't so different from

our world today is

it we all feel the pressure to make

ourselves as attractive as possible

don't we women feel this pressure more

than men but we all do feel it to some

degree

we're overwhelmed with pictures of ideal

beauty standards whether that's uh in

ads and that we see as we ride the BTS

or on our phones or in movies and TV

shows social media has made this so much

worse we we are obsessed with this idea

of presenting a perfect picture of

ourselves to the world right that's what

our social media is all

about it's not auth it's not

authenticity it's made up it's

fake that's the beauty that the World

craves there's so much pressure to

attain that today in the world and we

work hard to look a certain way not to

be healthier not because we're worried

about how long we're going to live but

because we want to be accepted by the

people around

us we're so concerned with the Judgment

of others because we are constantly

judging others

ourselves the truth is looking a certain

way is not going to make you happy not

truly happy because true beauty is not

found in the size of your dress dress

the color of your

hair the clearness of your skin how much

you can bench breast how tall you are

how much you

weigh true F Beauty is found within our

hearts true beauty is found in our

character 1 Peter 3 3-4 says this uh do

not let the adorning your adorning be

external the braiding of your hair and

the putting on of gold jewelry or the

clothing you wear but let your adorning

be the hidden person of the heart with

the imperishable beauty of a gentle and

quiet spirit which in God's sight is

very

precious worldly Beauty Fades but true

beauty

lasts think about what happens to these

women they're abducted from their

families because they meet some sort of

standard of outward Beauty they go

through this beautification process for

an entire year and it builds up to this

one night that they get with the

King they get one night to impress

him put yourself in their shoes

imagine the pressure of that

situation sadly for most of them Xerxes

will temply simply take their innocence

use them up and completely forget about

them you'll see in verse 14 that they go

to a different Herm or or or area of the

of the palace um they they're not

allowed to go back to the the herum

that's governed by Hagi they go to a

different one that's governed by shash

Gaz and that's because once their

innocence is taken they can't be with

all the virgins anymore they have to go

to a different place with all the other

concubines of the

king um they go on a literal Walk of

Shame after in the morning after to the

other herum with all the other

concubines there most of them would live

out their days completely forgotten by

King Jesus is not like Xerxes in fact

he's the exact opposite he does not

forget us he seeks us out he comes to us

we are not brought to him listen to the

words that Paul writes in Romans 5 veres

6 and 8 this is just before the passage

we re read for confession today verse

six says for while we were still weak at

the right time Christ died for the

ungodly then in verse eight but God

shows his love for us in that while we

were still sinners Christ died for

us uh Christ didn't wait for us to be

beautiful to die for us

Christ died for us when we were ugly

when we were

broken when we were far from

him we didn't deserve to be saved we

weren't prepared for him he meets us in

our

weakness Jesus washes us with his blood

so that we may be

beautiful we're brought near to him by

the blood of his

sacrifice we're made pure like a bride

presented on her wedding

day Xerxes brought each woman into his

bed beautiful and pure and they left

with

shame Jesus is just the opposite he

takes our shame away we come to him

burdened by our the weight of our

sins and he takes that away for

us if you're only hand over to him the

shame and sin that darkens your heart he

will take it away the shame that you

feel from the sin that his weighed you

down for years The Temptations that

you've fallen into Jesus will take that

away and you can stand with him

beautiful and

pure we come to Jesus shameful and ugly

and we leave

Beautiful Jesus hung on a cross and on

that cross he bore the weight of the

shame of all the sins of

mankind he hung

there and died there so that we may

become beautiful in the eyes of our

father

Esther's Triumph isn't really

Victory she becomes Queen but we've

already seen that that position is

fragile at

best she's now Queen to a petulant drunk

who M whose mood may change on a whim

her husband's main traits that he wants

in a wife are for her to be young

obedient this sounds like a

pressure-packed environment let's

remember that what Esther went through

to get there she's she's an orphan

adopted by her cousin she's taken from

her broken family and abducted and

brought into the

palace she has no agency in this

situation living as an exile away from

her people David strain says she's still

trying to sing the Lord's song as it

were she's thrown into the heart of the

Pagan Empire and she's

probably terrified that anyone is going

to find out her true identity and tell

the king she's living in constant fear

of being found

out don't lose sight of the fact that

Esther is a victim in this

situation she's objectified she's abused

yet the Lord does not abandon her in her

weakness her suffering her pain um he's

going to use her pain in her suffering

to bring about his

will there are times in our lives when

uh we feel trapped in painful

situations when the darkness in this

world weighs heavily upon us when our

lives are defined by the suffering that

we

Face know this the Lord the Lord does

not abandon us in our suffering the Lord

does not abandon us to pain and in time

the Lord will we will find redemption in

those

situations remember the words of Joseph

in Genesis 50:20 he said as for you you

made evil against me but God meant it

for good to bring about that many people

should be kept alive as they are today

now remember Joseph was uh sold into

slavery by his brothers and went through

imprisonment and enslavement before

becoming the second most powerful man in

Egypt that led to a time when he could

have had taken revenge on his brothers

instead he told them this

statement when you're wronged when you

suffer when life brings you

pain remember this statement from

Joseph uh when someone else means for

evil the Lord will work for good those

words will ring incredibly true later in

the story of

Esther suffering is Tim Keller says that

suffering is often what God uses as a uh

beautification process for our souls um

I'm reminded of the words in James 1:2-4

count it all joy my brothers when you

meet Trials of various kinds for you

know that the testing of your faith

produces steadfastness let steadfastness

have its full effect that you may be

perfect and complete lacking in nothing

if we want to receive Jesus sacrifice if

we want to receive the gift that that

brings we have to be willing to partake

in Jesus

suffering suffering makes us more like

Christ it puts us in a position to

depend on

him remember that when Jesus remember

that when Jesus Jesus understands our

suffering better than anyone possibly

could Jesus experienced suffering beyond

anything we could think or

imagine so remember that Jesus

understands and Jesus

knows no matter how dark whatever you're

experiencing is Jesus understands and

Jesus

knows now that we have a good

understanding of Esther's suffering in

this chapter we can talk about um the

compromise that she

makes she's a young Jewish woman woman

living in a foreign Empire and a world

dominated by

men put yourself in her shoes how would

you respond in her

situation do you think you would stand

firm in your

convictions do you think you would

immediately share that you are a member

of a discriminated minority people group

uh or would you just try to blend into

the background like Esther

did think about the dichotomy in her

names she introd she's introduced with a

Hebrew name but that's the only time in

the entire book that we hear that

name and so there's kind of this picture

here that this young Jewish girl named

hadassa in events that are mostly

against her will has to become

Esther so that she can fully enter into

the culture and survive

from the moment she's taken she fully

becomes Esther she gives herself over to

the culture that she's lived in her

entire life and her Jewish identity

remains

hidden yet surprisingly she finds favor

with everyone that she

meets she impresses

everyone everyone seems to like

her she's doing everything asked of her

even those things that may go against

her convictions and she's finding favor

with everyone and is given a p a

position of power and

importance is she wrong for doing

this has she forsaken God in favor of

her and mori's own plan for her

survival

maybe it's important to remember that

their decisions are based solely on a

hope for Esther's survival in a in a

nearly impossible

situation see like we know the story

right we know what the Lord's plan is at

the end of all this he's going to save

his people through Esther Esther and

morai don't know that they just know

that Esther has been taken into the

palace and she needs to

survive they didn't receive some word

from God that he's going to use Esther

eventually they didn't receive an angel

didn't visit them and tell them God's

plan they're just acting out of

self-preservation so they decide

compromise as their safest course of

action fear supersedes their FA

Faith you may think this is a bit of a

harsh reading of this chapter but I want

to remind you a different but similar

event that happens in The Book of Daniel

in Daniel chapter 1 Daniel and his his

three friends Shadrach Meshach and abedo

are are taken from their uh home in

Jerusalem they're among the first Exiles

taken to to Babylon and they're brought

into the palace just like Esther um and

they stand firm in their conviction

and the Lord blesses them He blesses

their faith and they're given positions

of pro prominence within King

Nebuchadnezzar's

Court would the same thing have happened

Esther probably there's no way to

tell the important thing for us to know

here is not to condemn Esther based on

her compromise but be encouraged that

despite her compromise the Lord is still

going to use her

in his plan to save his

people when we fall short that does not

disqualify us from being used by the

Lord we're called to live in the world

but not of the

world but there are times we're going to

fail in that goal

right we should be encouraged that

despite our failure the Lord can still

use us he will still give us

opportunities to stand firm firm amid

Temptation we are not disqualified from

being partakers in God's will due

to

indiscretion the story of Esther is

emblematic of the theme of the entire

Bible God doesn't choose perfect people

to accomplish his will he uses broken

people despite their failures and

shortcomings to accomplish his

will God's meet God meets people in

their weakness and becomes their

strength

think about it we shouldn't be

intimidated by the people that we

consider as Heroes of the faith just a

few

examples Abraham goes to Egypt he's

terrified that he's going to be killed

because the the the Pharaoh is going to

take his wife because she's beautiful so

he lies he says his wife is his sister

later on he's not patient enough to wait

for the Lord to provide his Heir Isaac

so he takes matters into his own hands

that decision still has ramifications

today

Moses murders an Egyptian and runs away

from the

consequences David sleeps with a married

woman then orchestrates her husband's

murder

yikes Peter denies Jesus three times on

the night of Jesus's arrest Paul

persecutes his church takes part in the

martyrdom of

Steven all of these men fell short in

different

ways yet all of the these men received

Grace God used each of them to bring

about his Redemptive plan For All

Mankind and spread the gospel to all the

world God uses his weakest servants to

accomplish his greatest

works he uses his weakest servants to

accomplish his greatest works and that's

what Esther is in this In this passage

she's weak in that she lives in a world

that is dominated by men she's a woman

she is a minority people group and on

top of that she is not standing firm in

her

faith but the Lord uses her

anyway on the cross we see Jesus in the

ultimate moment of

weakness

Brokenness pain and

suffering displaying the greatest

Jesus chose to be

weak he chose

pain he chose

suffering he could have gotten out of

that situation anytime he wanted to but

he chose to remain in

it so that through him we may find

strength understand this there's nothing

that you have done or will do that will

make God stop loving you

there's nothing you've done that

disqualifies you from receiving grace

through the death of

Christ there's nothing you've done that

disqualifies you from being used by God

God will continue to give you

opportunities to stand

firm the question is how do we make

ourselves available to him how do we put

ourselves in position to stand firm amid

Temptation and persecution

how are we called to

participate in God's Will and Aid in the

spread of his kingdom

here uh Martin Luther famously answered

this question by contrasting uh a

Theology of Glory with a Theology of the

Cross uh by a Theology of Glory he meant

any approach to the Christian Life that

looks for um outward displays of power

as the primary means of advancement now

that's a complicated way of saying that

um uh a way of glorifying ourselves in

hopes of advancing the

gospel instead Luther says KS puat Omnia

it's a Latin phrase that means the cross

is the test of

everything by that he meant if your

means of advancing the kingdom of God

car is characterized by Brokenness and

dependance upon God in Christ

that's that's what we're looking for

that's the way that the Lord advances

his

kingdom is your means of advancement

self-effacing and God

exalting does it despair of Earthly

influence and yet in humility discover

that God's influence is being

Advanced Our Lives should be

characterized by

humility we're called to live lives that

emulate Christ who in his humility

became flesh and went to a cross so that

we may have life

we humble ourselves dying to our worldly

flesh our desires our passions and in

doing so exalting God Matthew 16: 24-26

says this then Jesus told his disciples

if anyone would come after me let him

deny himself take up his cross and

follow me whoever would save his life

will lose it but whoever loses his life

for my sake will find it for what will a

man uh what will it profit a man if he

gains the whole world and forfeits his

soul or what shall a man give in return

for his

soul when we deny

ourselves we take up our cross

daily we walk in the footsteps of

Jesus and in doing so we make ourselves

available to be used by

him as I said earlier you cannot inherit

the gift of grace through Jesus

sacrifice if you are not willing to

partake in the suffering of Jesus on on

cross when we're willing to take up our

cross daily we will begin to live as

Peter suggests in First Peter 2 uh as

sojourners and Exiles

here we feel this daily right we feel

this this pull this tension that we live

in uh we like Esther live balancing Two

Worlds we live in this world that is

controlled by sin and darkness and evil

but we're not of this world we are

called we have a higher

calling uh if we've been washed by the

blood of Christ we are called to live

lives that emulate the life that Christ

LED so we cannot allow ourselves to be

wooed by the beauty of this

world we must live with our eyes fixed

on a beauty that is eternal one is that

is to

come there's a famous quote that's

attributed to a missionary named Jim

Elliot he is no fool who gives up what

he cannot keep to gain what he can't

lose he is no fool who gives up what he

cannot keep to gain what he can't lose

Elliot was a missionary in the country

of Ecuador and he had four he and four

other missionaries felt felt called to

take the gospel to a previously

unreached people group called the AA the

AA were known for their brutality their

violence um yet Elliot and his friends

felt strongly that the that they were

called to take the gospel to these

people uh now the the where the jungle

where the AA lived was only accessible

by small plane and so they flew over uh

several times the the area where the AA

lived and then landed on a small Beach

right off the right off of their

territory and they waited they waited to

see if the AA would

come and eventually they did uh but they

did not

come

friendly uh they killed Elliot and all

and the four other

missionaries um

Jim Elliott did not

consider his safety his comfort staying

in his own home more important than the

chance of the AA receive the gift of the

Gospel he understood that for him to

live was for Christ's glory and his

death would be

gain you know the the story the story is

is amazing it doesn't end there two

years later Jim Elliot wife Elizabeth

Elliot went back to the territory of the

AA and

um her

kindness her love and her forgiveness

changed the hearts of many of the AA

Indians she lived among them for many

many

years and saw many of them come to faith

in

Christ what the AA had meant for evil

the Lord used for

good as we conclude our discussion on

the uh book on Esther chapter 2 let's

take stock of how the Lord has worked

thus far in this

book God has used the Xerxes drunkenness

his drunken decision to banish vity to

place one of his chosen daughters on the

throne God's used the Abduction of

Esther to provide a path of salvation

people God's used Esther and will

continue to use Esther despite her

Conformity to the culture around

her finally God's going to give Esther

an opportunity to stand firm in her

convictions um and as we continue to

read this book we'll see the opportunity

that she's put the position she's put in

to test her faith morai is going to tell

her that she has an opportunity to to

make known her identity and put in a

position to save her people he says

famously that um she has become Queen

for for such a time as

this if there's one thing that you would

take away from this

sermon I hope it would be this pay

attention to the opportunities that God

gives you to participate in his

will even when you are in the midst of

pain and suffering when

darkness shrouds the moon as the

illustration was last week God can still

use

you even when You' have fallen short

when you failed when you've succumbed to

Temptation God can still use

you even when you're overwhelmed by the

pressures of this

world you will be given opportunities to

stand firm amid future Temptation or

persecution you need only make yourself

available to him God will meet you in

your

weakness take up your cross daily no

matter how heavy it

is Jesus will help you carry that burden

let's

pray father God we know that even now

you are at work in the darkest moments

of Our

Lives we know that when we are in the

midst of pain and suffering you have not

abandoned

us Lord we praise you that even when we

fail you do not cast us

aside Lord we thank you for the ways you

take our shame away and make us

beautiful Lord strength strengthen us

today to stand firm in the midst of

Trials and suffering and

temptations Lord let us remember that

standing for you is worth it no matter

cost in Jesus name
