so the the psalm that we'll be looking<\/p>\n
at today Psalm 86 is a a prayer of of<\/p>\n
King David during a very difficult time<\/p>\n
in his life his life is threatened by<\/p>\n
people who want to destroy him David's<\/p>\n
prayer shows us that those who trust in<\/p>\n
him they know him and therefore they<\/p>\n
depend upon him they call upon him and<\/p>\n
they seek to glorify him during times of<\/p>\n
adversity so let's look at our text<\/p>\n
today Psalm<\/p>\n
86 incline your ear O Lord and answer me<\/p>\n
for I am poor in needy preserve my life<\/p>\n
for I am Godly save your servant who<\/p>\n
trusts in you you are my God be gracious<\/p>\n
to me oh lord for to you do I cry all<\/p>\n
the day<\/p>\n
gladen the soul of your servant for to<\/p>\n
you oh Lord do I lift up my soul for you<\/p>\n
oh Lord are good and forgiving abounding<\/p>\n
in steadfast love to all who call upon<\/p>\n
you give ear O Lord to my prayer listen<\/p>\n
to my plea for<\/p>\n
grace in the day of my trouble I call<\/p>\n
upon you for you answer me there is is<\/p>\n
none like you among the gods O Lord nor<\/p>\n
are there any works like yours all the<\/p>\n
nations you have made shall come and<\/p>\n
worship before you oh Lord and shall<\/p>\n
glorify your<\/p>\n
name for you are great and do wondrous<\/p>\n
things you alone are God teach me your<\/p>\n
way oh Lord that I may walk in your<\/p>\n
truth unite My Heart To Fear your name I<\/p>\n
give thanks to you oh Lord my God with<\/p>\n
my whole heart and I will glorify your<\/p>\n
name<\/p>\n
forever for great is your steadfast love<\/p>\n
toward me you have delivered my soul<\/p>\n
from the depths of shol oh God insolent<\/p>\n
men have risen up against me a band of<\/p>\n
Ruthless men seeks my life and they do<\/p>\n
not set you before them but you oh Lord<\/p>\n
are a god merciful and gracious slow to<\/p>\n
anger and abounding in steadfast love<\/p>\n
and<\/p>\n
faithfulness turn to me and be gracious<\/p>\n
give your strength to your servant and<\/p>\n
save the son of your maid servant show<\/p>\n
me a sign of your favor that those who<\/p>\n
hate me may see and be put to shame<\/p>\n
because you Lord have helped me and<\/p>\n
comforted<\/p>\n
me the first point I want to to look at<\/p>\n
in our text this afternoon is to<\/p>\n
remember your Covenant relationship with<\/p>\n
the Lord and his character during times<\/p>\n
of<\/p>\n
adversity remember your Covenant<\/p>\n
relationship ship with the Lord and<\/p>\n
God's character during times of<\/p>\n
adversity David uses a good portion of<\/p>\n
this Psalm to describe<\/p>\n
God as we sang about this afternoon um<\/p>\n
God has<\/p>\n
characteristics and David uses language<\/p>\n
that speaks of God's covenant<\/p>\n
relationship with his people and also<\/p>\n
describes God's character describes who<\/p>\n
God is why does David S spend so much<\/p>\n
time doing this<\/p>\n
and I think it is to encourage us to<\/p>\n
remember our relationship with God and<\/p>\n
God's good character during times of him<\/p>\n
we call upon him and we seek his glory<\/p>\n
during times of<\/p>\n
adversity and so we need to remember our<\/p>\n
covenant relationship with God during<\/p>\n
times of<\/p>\n
adversity David starts off his Prayer by<\/p>\n
calling on the Lord in verse one uh<\/p>\n
we read incline your ear O Lord and<\/p>\n
answer me for I am poor and<\/p>\n
needy and the word O Lord is a<\/p>\n
translation of the Hebrew word<\/p>\n
Yahweh God used a lot of names in the<\/p>\n
Old Testament to describe himself and<\/p>\n
Yahweh was the special name that God<\/p>\n
used whenever he was talking to his<\/p>\n
special people about their special<\/p>\n
relationship it was a name that was<\/p>\n
personal to the Israelites<\/p>\n
so whenever God made big promises to his<\/p>\n
people he used this name and so we see<\/p>\n
God constantly make and remind his<\/p>\n
people uh remind his people of himself<\/p>\n
by using this name and God makes big<\/p>\n
promises to his people through this name<\/p>\n
like promises to to be with his people<\/p>\n
always to provide what his people need<\/p>\n
to protect his<\/p>\n
people David knows Yahweh and the love<\/p>\n
and compassion he has for for his<\/p>\n
Covenant people he knows that he is<\/p>\n
faithful to show his people compassion<\/p>\n
during their times of<\/p>\n
need this is why he says he is poor and<\/p>\n
needy he trusts that God will be<\/p>\n
faithful to him and have compassion on<\/p>\n
him by answering his prayer during his<\/p>\n
time of need because God is Yahweh who<\/p>\n
is his Covenant<\/p>\n
God God doesn't take his Covenant<\/p>\n
promises<\/p>\n
lightly as you you take communion today<\/p>\n
listen to Jesus words when ATI reads 1<\/p>\n
Corinthians<\/p>\n
11 Jesus says this cup is the New<\/p>\n
Covenant in my blood and it is by the<\/p>\n
blood of Jesus that God has made a<\/p>\n
covenant with<\/p>\n
us this Covenant is not some simple<\/p>\n
pinky promise that God makes that he<\/p>\n
will easily<\/p>\n
break during times of adversity remember<\/p>\n
your relationship with your Covenant<\/p>\n
Lord and the the promises that he has<\/p>\n
given you promises to never leave you to<\/p>\n
never forsake you to provide what you<\/p>\n
need we are God's people and he is with<\/p>\n
us and for us and has proven that we are<\/p>\n
his by the blood of his son in verses<\/p>\n
five David also speaks of God's<\/p>\n
character in verses 5 and 15 he lists<\/p>\n
several of God's characteristics<\/p>\n
he says that that God is good God<\/p>\n
doesn't have any evil intent to harm his<\/p>\n
people he only has good for<\/p>\n
them God is forgiving this means that<\/p>\n
God is able to look past the sins that<\/p>\n
Davis has committed and not hold those<\/p>\n
sins against him God is able to answer<\/p>\n
David's prayer because he is<\/p>\n
forgiving God is abounding in steadfast<\/p>\n
love to all who call upon<\/p>\n
him this love that is spoken of here is<\/p>\n
the love God has for his Covenant<\/p>\n
people God's steadfast love it means<\/p>\n
that it is constant and God's love never<\/p>\n
ends God's love for us it never dries<\/p>\n
up it never ceases to exist because God<\/p>\n
has a NeverEnding supply of love and we<\/p>\n
are his<\/p>\n
people notice in Verses 4-5 that God's<\/p>\n
character is what encourages David to<\/p>\n
ask for for um for what he<\/p>\n
does in verse four David ask and says<\/p>\n
glad in the soul of your servant for to<\/p>\n
you verse five how does it<\/p>\n
start it starts with four so it has<\/p>\n
given us the the reason why David prays<\/p>\n
the way he does in verse four<\/p>\n
David knows God's character and he<\/p>\n
trusts him so he confidently depends on<\/p>\n
him and prays to<\/p>\n
him when our neighbors moved next door<\/p>\n
to us a few years ago we slowly started<\/p>\n
getting to know them we saw each other<\/p>\n
outside of of our houses and so we would<\/p>\n
talk through the bushes that separate<\/p>\n
our houses and we did did this a few<\/p>\n
times and then they invited us over to<\/p>\n
their house for Naan and to to visit<\/p>\n
and after a short time of getting to<\/p>\n
know them they offered to to watch our<\/p>\n
two young girls and and this was nice it<\/p>\n
was uh nice to know that they had<\/p>\n
offered that and the wife of the family<\/p>\n
would invite Macy over to her house to<\/p>\n
play we didn't know the family well and<\/p>\n
so we would tell Macy uh no you you<\/p>\n
can't go over to their house right now<\/p>\n
because we don't know them well they<\/p>\n
seem like a great family but we just<\/p>\n
don't know them well enough to allow you<\/p>\n
to go over by yourself and play but as<\/p>\n
we spent more and more time with them<\/p>\n
and got to know them better we began to<\/p>\n
trust them we started allowing Macy to<\/p>\n
spend more time with them and they now<\/p>\n
play Bad mitton together uh<\/p>\n
regularly one of the reasons that God<\/p>\n
describes himself so much in scripture<\/p>\n
is so that we can get to know his good<\/p>\n
character he wants us to know him and<\/p>\n
trust him so that in difficult times we<\/p>\n
turn to him<\/p>\n
brothers and sisters we should all be<\/p>\n
encouraged by David's prayer to get to<\/p>\n
know the Lord better so that we trust<\/p>\n
him and turn to him in times of<\/p>\n
need we want to make sure that we are<\/p>\n
studying the scriptures so that our<\/p>\n
hearts in our minds know him and trust<\/p>\n
him well if we are going to depend on<\/p>\n
the Lord we must know and trust his<\/p>\n
character during times of of difficulty<\/p>\n
in life turn to the Psalms like Psalm 86<\/p>\n
and other passages of scripture that<\/p>\n
speaks of God's character and the<\/p>\n
Covenant relationship that we have with<\/p>\n
God and meditate on these two<\/p>\n
things when we know the character of God<\/p>\n
and trust him it will embolden us to<\/p>\n
depend on him which is what we will look<\/p>\n
at next depend on the Lord during times<\/p>\n
adversity I think there are basically<\/p>\n
two ways you can look whenever adversity<\/p>\n
hits you you can look internally and<\/p>\n
depend on yourself or you can look<\/p>\n
externally and depend on other things or<\/p>\n
other<\/p>\n
people and David looks at both he looks<\/p>\n
at himself and in verse one he states<\/p>\n
that he is poor and<\/p>\n
needy he realizes that he lacks the<\/p>\n
ability to handle the adversary that is<\/p>\n
against him and at some point he looks<\/p>\n
around him and he looks at the world he<\/p>\n
looks at what the world of his day has<\/p>\n
to offer him to help in his<\/p>\n
situation and the best it can offer is<\/p>\n
false<\/p>\n
gods he says in verses<\/p>\n
7-10 in the day of my trouble I call<\/p>\n
upon you for you answer me there is none<\/p>\n
like you among the gods oh Lord nor are<\/p>\n
there any works like yours all the<\/p>\n
glorify your name<\/p>\n
for you are great and do wondrous things<\/p>\n
you alone are<\/p>\n
God David is saying to God you alone are<\/p>\n
God there is nothing and there is no one<\/p>\n
that compares to you I will depend upon<\/p>\n
you during times of adversity because<\/p>\n
everything else is less than you<\/p>\n
are what does David depend on the Lord<\/p>\n
for in verse two he depends on the Lord<\/p>\n
to preserve Reserve his life in verse<\/p>\n
four to Gladden his soul David is<\/p>\n
joyless at this point um he has been<\/p>\n
plagued by his enemies who are after his<\/p>\n
life and so they have robbed him of his<\/p>\n
joy in verse 11 he says teach me your<\/p>\n
truth unite My Heart To Fear your name<\/p>\n
and so David wants to know how he is to<\/p>\n
conduct himself in this world he wants<\/p>\n
to do it in a way that glorifies and<\/p>\n
honors the Lord in verse 16 he says give<\/p>\n
your strength to your servant David<\/p>\n
needs to be strengthened by the Lord and<\/p>\n
in verse 17 show me a sign of your favor<\/p>\n
and nothing in this world is more<\/p>\n
capable or more willing to be helped to<\/p>\n
US during our times of adversity than<\/p>\n
our covenant<\/p>\n
God when adversity comes our way we need<\/p>\n
to depend upon the Lord to meet all of<\/p>\n
our needs that are a result of the ad<\/p>\n
adversity that we<\/p>\n
experience each adversity is different<\/p>\n
and will require us to depend on the<\/p>\n
Lord in different<\/p>\n
ways but he is able to handle whatever<\/p>\n
it is that we<\/p>\n
face one of Ford slogans is built Ford<\/p>\n
tough they they often have uh<\/p>\n
commercials uh and billboards to<\/p>\n
advertise their<\/p>\n
vehicles and the truck commercials are<\/p>\n
are usually some type of of rugged guy<\/p>\n
who's in a car heart<\/p>\n
and he's driving a truck through some<\/p>\n
harsh terrain like a desert or snow or<\/p>\n
rain or or up a mountain and the point<\/p>\n
the producers are trying to communicate<\/p>\n
to us is that nothing can stop this<\/p>\n
truck from getting you through whatever<\/p>\n
conditions you need to go through it can<\/p>\n
handle whatever is in its<\/p>\n
way so when adversity arises what is<\/p>\n
your<\/p>\n
tendency do you look to yourself and say<\/p>\n
I've gotten through cancer it and I can<\/p>\n
do it<\/p>\n
again do you tell yourself I have an<\/p>\n
appointment next week with a specialist<\/p>\n
at a nearby hospital who is the best in<\/p>\n
the world who says he can stop this<\/p>\n
cancer do you go on chat GPT to find out<\/p>\n
if AI if AI could give you an instant<\/p>\n
cure or do you depend upon the Lord for<\/p>\n
help our text today encourages us to<\/p>\n
look to the Lord for our help<\/p>\n
the Lord May provide a great specialist<\/p>\n
for you to see he may use chap GPT to<\/p>\n
give you knowledge but our help is<\/p>\n
ultimately found in the Lord don't<\/p>\n
depend on these other things in and of<\/p>\n
themselves they are like the false gods<\/p>\n
of David's time that don't compare to<\/p>\n
god let's look now at our third Point<\/p>\n
pray to the Lord during times of<\/p>\n
adversity David's dependency on and<\/p>\n
trust in the Lord moves him to call upon<\/p>\n
the Lord and pray to him during his<\/p>\n
time of<\/p>\n
need<\/p>\n
oh um in verses 6 through 7 David says<\/p>\n
give ear O Lord to my prayer listen to<\/p>\n
my plea for grace in the day of my<\/p>\n
trouble I I call upon you for you answer<\/p>\n
me David calls upon the Lord because a<\/p>\n
past experience he is called upon the<\/p>\n
Lord before and asked the Lord something<\/p>\n
and the Lord has answered the Lord has<\/p>\n
provided and so this experience has<\/p>\n
given David great confidence that the<\/p>\n
Lord will help him in his time of need<\/p>\n
now and answer the other prayers that he<\/p>\n
prays for<\/p>\n
help Hebrews 4:16 tells us let us then<\/p>\n
with confidence draw near to the throne<\/p>\n
of grace that we may receive mercy and<\/p>\n
find Grace to help in time of<\/p>\n
need and so God invites us to come to<\/p>\n
him during our time of need he uses our<\/p>\n
prayers to bless us during times of<\/p>\n
adversity remember the character of God<\/p>\n
when you pray he is gracious trust that<\/p>\n
the Lord answers the prayers of his<\/p>\n
people and call upon<\/p>\n
him Psalm 86 reminds us of another Serv<\/p>\n
servant King who like David would face a<\/p>\n
band of Godless men that would seek to<\/p>\n
take his<\/p>\n
life like David he would intense uh he<\/p>\n
would experience intense suffering and<\/p>\n
sorrow because of them and he would rely<\/p>\n
upon the strength of the Lord and cry<\/p>\n
out to the Lord for<\/p>\n
help right before Jesus went to die on<\/p>\n
the cross he<\/p>\n
prayed his prayer gives us additional<\/p>\n
instructions how to pray during times of<\/p>\n
adversity<\/p>\n
let's take a look at this prayer and see<\/p>\n
what it has to teach<\/p>\n
us we find an account of this Prayer in<\/p>\n
Luke 22 verses<\/p>\n
39-47 and it says and he came out and<\/p>\n
went as was his custom to the Mount of<\/p>\n
Olives and the disciples followed him<\/p>\n
and when he came to the place he said to<\/p>\n
them pray that you may in not enter into<\/p>\n
temptation and he withdrew from them<\/p>\n
about a stone throw and knelt down and<\/p>\n
prayed saying father if you are willing<\/p>\n
remove this cup from me<\/p>\n
nevertheless not my will but yours be<\/p>\n
done and there appeared to him an angel<\/p>\n
from heaven strengthening him and being<\/p>\n
in agony he prayed more earnestly and<\/p>\n
his sweat became like great drops of<\/p>\n
blood falling down to the ground and<\/p>\n
when he rose from prayer he came to the<\/p>\n
disciples and found them sleeping for<\/p>\n
sorrow and he said to them<\/p>\n
why are you sleeping rise and pray that<\/p>\n
you may not enter into<\/p>\n
temptation while he was still speaking<\/p>\n
there came a crowd and the man called<\/p>\n
Judas one of the 12 was leading<\/p>\n
them so Jesus is stricken with sorrow<\/p>\n
because he knows his time to go to the<\/p>\n
Cross was<\/p>\n
approaching the Godless band of men who<\/p>\n
wanted to take his life was on his front<\/p>\n
doorstep and how does Jesus pray<\/p>\n
he saysf father if you are willing<\/p>\n
remove this cup from me nevertheless not<\/p>\n
my will but yours be<\/p>\n
done Jesus knows that the pain and the<\/p>\n
agony that he will soon face at the<\/p>\n
cross when the father looks upon him as<\/p>\n
having committed all of the sins of us<\/p>\n
of all the sins of all of his Covenant<\/p>\n
people the Wrath and the fury of God for<\/p>\n
this amount of sin would be intense and<\/p>\n
Jesus would experience the full force of<\/p>\n
it Jesus wanted to avoid experiencing<\/p>\n
this if it was possible if there was any<\/p>\n
way other way possible for him to for<\/p>\n
God the Father to accomplish what he<\/p>\n
wanted to accomplish Jesus wanted to<\/p>\n
know let's do that<\/p>\n
father but if there wasn't then Jesus<\/p>\n
wanted to do the father's will he knows<\/p>\n
and trusts in the character of our<\/p>\n
father and he is therefore willing to<\/p>\n
subject himself and his plans to the<\/p>\n
father's<\/p>\n
plans Isaiah 55 8-9 it tells us for my<\/p>\n
thoughts are not your thoughts neither<\/p>\n
are my ways declares neither are my ways<\/p>\n
your ways declares the Lord for as the<\/p>\n
heavens are higher than the earth so are<\/p>\n
my ways higher than your ways and my<\/p>\n
thoughts than your<\/p>\n
thoughts God has this wonderful<\/p>\n
overarching plan for all of<\/p>\n
creation and we need to take this into<\/p>\n
account when we pray to him during times<\/p>\n
of adversity we can boldly approach him<\/p>\n
and boldly ask our gracious and loving<\/p>\n
God for help during times of adversity<\/p>\n
with the expectation that he hears us<\/p>\n
and he does answer our prayers that he<\/p>\n
does give us good things but at the same<\/p>\n
time we need to remember that our ways<\/p>\n
our plans our desires are not always the<\/p>\n
same as<\/p>\n
his we need to subject our prayer<\/p>\n
request to his will and we need to<\/p>\n
acknowledge this in our prayers and the<\/p>\n
way that we formulate our<\/p>\n
prayers our pray is to communicate to<\/p>\n
God that he knows best and that we are<\/p>\n
subject to his will and desires all the<\/p>\n
same all all while at the same time<\/p>\n
making those requests that we have known<\/p>\n
to<\/p>\n
him Romans 8:28 it tells us that God has<\/p>\n
a plan and a purpose for all things in<\/p>\n
our lives even<\/p>\n
adversity and we know that for those who<\/p>\n
love God all things work together for<\/p>\n
good for those who are called according<\/p>\n
to his<\/p>\n
purpose so even in those times when it's<\/p>\n
God's plan for us to experience great<\/p>\n
adversity and hardship and not to remove<\/p>\n
it we can take comfort knowing that our<\/p>\n
good gracious merciful and steadfast<\/p>\n
loving God is in charge and has good in<\/p>\n
mind for<\/p>\n
us and let's look now at our last Point<\/p>\n
seek the glory of the Lord during times<\/p>\n
adversity we see David's passion for for<\/p>\n
God's glory throughout this Psalm he<\/p>\n
shows concern for God's glory in three<\/p>\n
ways in<\/p>\n
particular in the first way we see<\/p>\n
David's passion for God's glory is in<\/p>\n
his desire for God to be glorified among<\/p>\n
the Nations<\/p>\n
in verses 7-1 we read in the day of my<\/p>\n
trouble I call upon you for you answer<\/p>\n
me there is none like you among the gods<\/p>\n
oh Lord nor are there any works like<\/p>\n
yours all the nations you have made<\/p>\n
shall come in worship before you oh Lord<\/p>\n
and shall glorify your<\/p>\n
things you alone are good<\/p>\n
God and so we see that the David wants<\/p>\n
the the people of other nations to stop<\/p>\n
worshiping their false gods and to<\/p>\n
worship the true God David compares the<\/p>\n
one true God with these false gods and<\/p>\n
says that they cannot<\/p>\n
compare the Lord does great and wondrous<\/p>\n
things and these false gods do not God<\/p>\n
Alone is mighty and wonderful but the<\/p>\n
people of these other nations do not<\/p>\n
admit this and they continue to work<\/p>\n
worship FAL God false gods they continue<\/p>\n
to to praise and to give honor that<\/p>\n
should be given to the Lord to these<\/p>\n
gods we see David's concern here um and<\/p>\n
he especially talks about this in verses<\/p>\n
14-1 17 he has a concern for God to get<\/p>\n
the glory that he so rightly<\/p>\n
deserves all the peoples of the nations<\/p>\n
of the world will one day come and<\/p>\n
worship the Lord and honor him for his<\/p>\n
greatness and his wonderful<\/p>\n
works we also see David's passion for<\/p>\n
God's glory and his desire for God to be<\/p>\n
glorified among those who seek to harm<\/p>\n
him he says in verse<\/p>\n
14 oh God insolent men have risen up<\/p>\n
against risen up against me a band of<\/p>\n
not set you before them the men who seek<\/p>\n
to harm David do not set the Lord before<\/p>\n
them this means that they do not care<\/p>\n
about giving God uh or glorifying God<\/p>\n
and giving him the honor and the worship<\/p>\n
and the praise that he<\/p>\n
deserves in in response to this David<\/p>\n
asked the Lord to show him a sign of<\/p>\n
favor he says in verse 17 show me a sign<\/p>\n
of favor that those who hate<\/p>\n
me he wants them to come to know the<\/p>\n
Lord and be put to shame for not<\/p>\n
glorifying<\/p>\n
him these men do not set the Lord before<\/p>\n
him before them David has a a great<\/p>\n
concern for the glory of God he wants<\/p>\n
for God to show up and intervene so that<\/p>\n
these men are put to shame and they see<\/p>\n
God these men have no reverence or<\/p>\n
respect for God and David wants God to<\/p>\n
show up and show his character he wants<\/p>\n
God to show his Mercy his grace how he<\/p>\n
is slow to anger how he is abounding in<\/p>\n
steadfast love and his faithfulness to<\/p>\n
David so that these men see<\/p>\n
it we can and we should pray confid<\/p>\n
confidently like this for ourselves and<\/p>\n
others in times of adversity God show up<\/p>\n
and show your power by overcoming this<\/p>\n
trouble and saving me from it show your<\/p>\n
strength Show Your Grace show your mercy<\/p>\n
that you are slow to anger you are<\/p>\n
abounding in steadfast love show your<\/p>\n
faithfulness to me by rescuing me from<\/p>\n
from this adversity so that your glory<\/p>\n
will dis be displayed in the<\/p>\n
world and lastly we see David's passion<\/p>\n
for God's glory and his desire for<\/p>\n
himself to glorify<\/p>\n
God when we go through adversity and and<\/p>\n
hardship it's easy to lose sight of our<\/p>\n
over overarching purpose in life which<\/p>\n
is to glorify<\/p>\n
God I know at least for me this is how<\/p>\n
it usually<\/p>\n
works as see like the the more things<\/p>\n
don't go my way and the more troubles<\/p>\n
and hardships that I experience the more<\/p>\n
I tend to focus on those problems around<\/p>\n
me and not on the Lord and not on his<\/p>\n
glory not on glorifying the<\/p>\n
Lord and so I often lose sight of how<\/p>\n
wonderful the Lord is and my heart's<\/p>\n
focus it shifts from God's glory to my<\/p>\n
problems and so my problems that they<\/p>\n
act like the moon and that they Eclipse<\/p>\n
God's glory and his<\/p>\n
greatness I think think one of the<\/p>\n
things that David is doing in this Psalm<\/p>\n
is keeping the Lord before our face<\/p>\n
during this time of<\/p>\n
trouble he has given us example to<\/p>\n
follow of how to pray in times of<\/p>\n
adversity he shows us a prayer that<\/p>\n
meditates on the Lord so that we get to<\/p>\n
a place where David is in verses 11-<\/p>\n

of God it puts things into<\/p>\n
perspective David prays for his own<\/p>\n
heart he wants all of his life including<\/p>\n
his conduct to conform to one purpose<\/p>\n
which is to honor and glorify the Lord<\/p>\n
forever he wants a heart that wholly<\/p>\n
seeks the glory of the Lord even in the<\/p>\n
midst of adversity<\/p>\n
and notice how it is only after Davis<\/p>\n
David has gotten to this point that he<\/p>\n
really gets into detail of what he's<\/p>\n
going to to go before the Lord about his<\/p>\n
problem in verse 14 he says oh God<\/p>\n
insolent men have risen up against me a<\/p>\n
band of Ruthless men seeks my life and<\/p>\n
they do not set you before them and so<\/p>\n
as we look at David's prayer he's<\/p>\n
meditated upon the Lord he's gone before<\/p>\n
the Lord um before he even brings uh<\/p>\n
details up to the Lord about the<\/p>\n
adversity that he's<\/p>\n
experiencing he teaches us to keep God<\/p>\n
and His glory in the front of our<\/p>\n
minds and how does Jesus teach us to<\/p>\n
pray how does he start the Lord's prayer<\/p>\n
that we most of us know well our Father<\/p>\n
in heaven Hallowed Be Your Name Your<\/p>\n
Kingdom Come your will be done on Earth<\/p>\n
as it is in heaven<\/p>\n
so brothers and sisters during times of<\/p>\n
adversity let us remember our covenant<\/p>\n
relationship with the Lord and his<\/p>\n
character so that we may depend upon him<\/p>\n
call upon him and glorify him in our<\/p>\n
time of need let's go before the Lord<\/p>\n
and thank him for his word and ask him<\/p>\n
to work his word into our<\/p>\n
hearts dear Lord we thank you so much<\/p>\n
for your<\/p>\n
word how you instruct us through it how<\/p>\n
you show us your character how you show<\/p>\n
us your Covenant Love For Us your<\/p>\n
Covenant<\/p>\n
faithfulness dear Lord I pray that you<\/p>\n
will just continue to teach us more<\/p>\n
about you dear Lord I pray not only that<\/p>\n
you will fill our minds with the<\/p>\n
knowledge of who you are but I pray that<\/p>\n
you will unite our hearts still Lord so<\/p>\n
that we fear<\/p>\n
you I pray that as we we see uh David's<\/p>\n
heart in this this prayer of just one in<\/p>\n
his heart to be motivated and to be<\/p>\n
focused upon you dear Lord I pray that<\/p>\n
you will give us that same desire dur<\/p>\n
during<\/p>\n
adversity I pray that you will help us<\/p>\n
to know your character and to to trust<\/p>\n
you I pray that during times of<\/p>\n
adversity because we know you and we<\/p>\n
trust you I pray that we will depend<\/p>\n
upon you dear Lord I pray that we will<\/p>\n
call upon you and I pray that we will<\/p>\n
glorify you and we ask all this in Jesus<\/p>\n
